Young Adult Holiday Party – October 31st @ 3PM

Young Adults in the 6th through 12th grade are invited to the MPL to celebrate the spookiest time of the year.

Join us on Tuesday, October 31st from 3:00-4:30 for video games, board games, pizza, snacks and light refreshments. Costumes are not required but having a good time is, so join us for a spooky time!

Malden Public Library Showcases the Artwork of Gurleen Anand in November

Gurleen Anand is the featured artist for the month of November and the library will be hosting an artist reception on Thursday November 9th from 6 – 7pm and everyone is welcome to attend.

Gurleen Anand is a certified art healer from the University of Florida and resides in Malden. Throughout her career, she has worked in the field of creativity and innovation.

Anand works with a variety of mediums, to create art centered around mindfulness and recovery. She uses art therapy to help individuals heal. She hopes to use her art as a way to bring people of various backgrounds and works of life together.

YA Lego Master Builders – Oct 26th @3:00 PM

Young Adults in the 6th through 12th grade are invited to try show their Lego skills at the MPL.

Master Builders are welcome to come and try their hand at the Lego Architecture kits at the library. Work by yourself or in teams to assemble amazing buildings from all over the world!

Join us on Thursday, October 26th at 3:00 PM to claim a kit to build for the library’s future displays.

Movie Night: Wednesday, Oct. 18th: 6:00-8:00pm

Join us for Classic Movie Night on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm. We will be showing the American version of the British film “Gaslight.”

Outdoor Family Movie Night in the Park at River’s Edge

Join us for a “Movie Night in the Park at Rivers Edge” on Thursday, October 5. The movie will be on The Park at Rivers Edge Great Lawn adjacent to 200 River’s Edge Drive in Medford. The Great Lawn section of the park will be transformed into an outdoor movie theatre where residents and visitors of all ages are welcome to gather and enjoy a free movie night featuring Elemental (Rated PG).

Disney and Pixar’s Elemental is set in Element City where Fire, Water, Earth and Air residents live together. The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in. The movie will begin just after sunset at 7:00 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Sponsored by Preotle, Lane & Associates and the Malden Public Library. Attendees should bring their own blankets and chairs for use. There will be free snacks and water provided. Wellington Station is just 0.4 miles from Rivers Edge. Free parking is available at the Rivers Edge Garage.

YA Craft: Boba Keychain Craft – Thur. Oct 5th @ 3:00 PM

Young Adults in the 6th through 12th grade are invited to get crafty at the Malden Public Library on Thursday, October 5th from 3:00-4:30. We will be crafting personalized Boba Tea keychains in the Program Room on the second floor. To sign up for this craft please call 781-324-0218 or stop by the information desk.

Local History Talk on Grave Stone Restoration and Preservation

On Monday October 2nd at 6:30 pm the Malden Public Library will welcome Epoch Preservation, Inc to give a presentation on the important work they do repairing gravestones in some of Massachusetts’s oldest historic burial grounds. This program is a great way to learn about historic cemeteries, restoration and preservation efforts, and a neat way to kick off spooky season with some interesting historical knowledge. All are welcome!
