Holiday Food Drive for the Salvation Army

Bring a little cheer to a struggling family.  Library patrons can contribute to the Salvation Army’s work in Malden to make the holiday season festive for others.

These items will be gladly accepted:
♦    stuffing
♦    dry gravy
♦    mashed potatoes
♦    canned tuna, chicken or other canned goods
♦    apple sauce
♦    cranberry sauce
♦    peanut butter
Food for ethnic groups in the vicinity is welcomed; staples, such as rice or beans, are always good additions to the pantry.

The collection container will be out on the main floor opposite the circulation desk. The food drive will continue after Thanksgiving to gather donations for Christmas meals.

MPL Gifted Microfilm Reader

Malden Public Library was so pleased to be given a gift of a new microfilm reader for our local history room by the Piccolo Family Charitable Foundation. The Scanpro 3000 will enable users to produce digital output in multiple forms including pdf, digital word search, resident internet links, and enhanced digital imaging of degraded text and photos. This equipment can currently be found in the best research libraries and universities.

The donation from the Piccolo Family Charitable Foundation was presented to Library Director Dora St. Martin and Library Board of Trustees President John Tramondozzi by C. Henry Kezer, President of the Foundation and Laura Hodgin, Treasurer. The Mary F. Piccolo Foundation was created for the purpose of supporting educational and scholastic enterprises of Malden, Melrose and surrounding communities. The Library and the Malden community thank the Foundation for their generous support.
