Día de los Muertos
I remember Abuelito: A Day of the Dead Story Bilingual Storytelling Event
Recuerdo a Abuelito: Una historia de día de muertos

This 3-part program, presented in both English and Spanish, is designed to be fun, energetic, and interactive, with 1) storytelling, 2) arts and craft activity, and 3) singing, dancing, or a dynamic game. Recommended for ages 5-8.
This program is supported by a grant from the Malden Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

This Mexican holiday is a celebration when families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. In this story a young girl prepares to honor her beloved grandfather. She misses him very much and is excited for his spirit to visit that night.

The Spanish language is incomparable. Spanish is the official language of 21 countries. Spanish Fun Program was created to help teach the language to children and adults. We do this through songs and music, fun games, visual images, real world field trips, storytelling and much more.

Everyone can learn to speak Spanish, from children to adults, although the best age to learn any second language is before the age of 8 to 10 years old. We don’t just look at speaking the language, we know culture has a great deal to do with how you speak, that’s why we focus on traditions and culture of the Hispanic country.

Creature Feature on the Library Lawn 10.25 @ 6pm

POSTPONED TO SATURDAY, OCT. 25! Join us on the lawn for a Halloween creature feature. We’ll be showing Creature from the Black Lagoon on a blow up movie screen. There will be warm drinks and of course Halloween candy. Please remember to dress for the weather as October nights get chilly. Also plan for the main library building to close at 6pm. So bathroom breaks may rely on local business generosity. Movie run time is a crisp 79 minutes. So unlike the current movies, it will be over before you know it. Sundown is at 5:45 and we should be rolling at 6pm. So bring your blankets, chairs, and love of old monster makeup because this is the movie night you shouldn’t miss. Costumes are encouraged but not necessary. Cait, your host, however will be dressed to impress.
