Whether it’s starting a new job, changing schools or neighborhoods, we all know how it feels to not belong. That is why we’re celebrating the places and spaces #WhereWeBelong for #WelcomingWeek2022! Welcoming Week is an annual campaign and celebration to showcase the movement of communities striving to be more welcoming places for all, including immigrants.

Join us this September to celebrate the spirit of welcoming in Malden. Stop by the Malden Public Library and learn more about Welcoming Week, our digital language learning apps (including for English Language Learners), our new World Language books, and a few fun surprises!

StoryWalk®: Tiny, Perfect Things by M.H. Clark

This month’s StoryWalk® features the wonderful picture book Tiny, Perfect Things by M.H. Clark. “This is a book about how childlike curiousity can transform ordinary days into extraordinary adventures.” You are invited to walk around the library building and enjoy this story on days when there is no threat of rain or gusty winds.
StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children—and adults!—to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children’s book are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll along the walkway, you’re directed to the next page in the story.
StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and was developed with the help of Rachel Senechal, Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
Our recent StoryWalk® programs are supported in part by a grant from the Malden Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
