Friends Wine Tasting 5.9.25 Tickets On Sale Now

The Friends of the Malden Public Library is holding their Annual Wine Tasting Gala to benefit the Malden Public Library on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 7 – 9 pm in the historic Converse Memorial Library and Art Galleries. The event will include wines and mocktails courtesy of Kappy’s Fine Wine and Spirits, Malden, music, food from local Malden establishments, and a silent auction.

This year’s theme will honor renowned artist and Malden native, Frank Stella. Attendees are welcome to wear styles reminiscent of their favorite Stella decade.

Tickets are $50 general admission and the $75 includes a VIP gallery tour beginning at 6:30 pm. Tickets can be bought online by clicking the link below. Or in person at the Friends of the Malden Public Library Book Sale on Friday April 4th 6-9pm or Saturday April 5th 10-2pm. Or at the Circulation Desk any time there after. Saturday, April 12 @ 3pm: The Life, Music, and Mystery of Connie Converse

Attention, music aficionados and local history buffs! Join us in welcoming author Howard Fishman as he talks about his new book, “To Anyone Who Ever Asks: The Life, Music, and Mystery of Connie Converse,” this Saturday at 3pm in the Maccario room.
Connie Converse (a distant relative of Malden’s Converse family) was a 20th century singer-songwriter and activist, considered by some to be a precursor to Bob Dylan. However, she disappeared in 1974 and her music nearly fell into complete obscurity. This Saturday, come learn how, decades later, fans of her music have worked to revive her legacy and her story.

Public Sale Sat 4/5 10am-2pm. At the public sale you will get to visit with a fire truck courtesy of the Malden Fire Dept. We’ll also have coffee available while supplies last.
Be sure to stop by the Medford Friends of the Library Sale that same weekend- we’ve got different collections, but we all love the library!

Wind Powered Projects: A Youth Malden Reads Event

Youth and Teens in the 3rd through 12th Grade are invited to learn about Wind Power at the Malden Public Library on Thursday, April 24th from 3:00 – 4:00 and 4:00 – 5:00 PM. This is a STEM based craft where you will recreate a small model that recreates how wind power can provide electricity for homes.

YA Craft: Soap Making on Tues, Apr 15th

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are invited to the Malden Public Library to clean up their act. Join us on Tuesday, April 15th from 3:00-4:30 in the Program Room for our homemade Soap Making craft. You will be able to add scents, colors and florals to truly design your own bar of soap.

Movie Night: Wed., April 23rd: 6:00-8:00pm

Please join us for Movie Night on Wednesday, April 23, 2025: 6:00-8:00pm at the Malden Public Library. We will be showing a movie written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg about A Real Pain. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin. Kulkin recently won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
