11th Annual Public Reading by
The Malden Writers’ Collaborative

Celebrate writing! Join Malden’s own creative writing group, the Malden Writers’ Collaborative, for their 11th Annual Public Reading on Thursday, August 5th 7-8:30PM online on the Malden Public Library’s YouTube Channel. The group meets twice a month to workshop each others’ work, share ideas, and practice writing techniques. A direct link will be posted shortly before the event.

Members of the 2020-2021 season will read original works.

Some content may be inappropriate for children.

Youth Tie-Dye Day: Thursday July 29th @3PM

Kids age 4-10, and Young Adults in the 5th-12th grade are invited to a program on the lawn of the Malden Public Library, as we TIE-DYE T-SHIRTS!

YOUNG ADULTS:

Young Adults in the 5th-12th grade shirts and spaces available to design and make your own Tie-Dye shirt are first come first serve. Come to the library at 3:00 PM on Thursday July 29th. All the materials are provided for you.

KIDS:

Sign-up is required: Call the Children’s Room at 781-324-0218 to reserve a spot! There will be three sessions to choose from:  3:00, 3:30, and 4:00pm. (The process can get messy, so be sure to wear clothes that can take the abuse.) This tie-dying activity is appropriate for kids ages 4-10 and will take place on the front lawn of the library.

Come to Malden Chamber of Commerce’s Birthday Party & 1891 Day!

Saturday, July 24 from 3:00-6:00 pm on Salem Street in front of the Malden Public Library

3:00 -6:00 pm: Fun on the Library Lawn including complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, an 1891 photo booth, a Museum of the Streets exploring Malden history and businesses, and much more.

3:00 pm: Music by Outrageous Fortune

3:30 pm: Magician Phil Smith strolling with interactive illusions, comedy and mind reading

4:00-4:30pm:  Victorian Costume Competition and Prizes

4:30 pm: Sweet Heart Serenades singing old time sing-along songs

6:00 pm: Dinner at a restaurant of your choice featuring an 1891 ($18.91) special.  List of participating restaurants and menus available on the Chamber website at: www.maldenchamber.org

YA Grab & Go Crafts: Anime Coloring Book Kits

For young adults in the 5th through 12th grade, stop by the library starting today to pick up your own Anime Coloring Kit.

Each kit has pages of chibi art, anime characters, and scenes from your favorite anime, as well as colored pencils or markers. Just go to the information desk at the Malden Public Library to pick up your Grab & Go craft bag while supplies last.
