Please join us for Summer Movie Night on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 6:00-8:00pm. We will be showing the sequel to the film The Devil Wears Prada, based on the book by Lauren Weisberger. The film stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.

Please join us for Movie Night on Wednesday, June 17, 2026: 6:00-8:00pm at the Malden Public Library. We will be showing the remake of the 1993 film, “The Wedding Banquet.” This 2025 remake stars Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Kelly Marie Tran, Han Gi-Chan, Joan Chen, and Youn Yuh-Jung.

“Angela and her partner Lee have been unlucky with their IVF treatments but can’t afford to pay for another round. Meanwhile their friend Min, the closeted scion of a multinational corporate empire, has plenty of family money but a soon-to-expire student visa. Earth Day Awareness Film: “We’re All Plastic People Now”

Please join us for a special showing of the documentary, “We’re All Plastic People Now” on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 from 6:00-7:30pm at the Malden Public Library. A short discussion and Q&A with Eileen Ryan, from Beyond Plastics Greater Boston will follow the film.

“In an era of throw-away ease, convenience has cost us our well-being. Plastics have been found inside our bodies- in our colons, our brains, and even in mothers’ developing wombs. Scientists around the country are sounding the alarm, but without public buy-in, there is little that can be done. How much evidence do we need before we decide to take action?”

Movie Night: Wed., May 6th: 6:00-8:00pm

Please join us for Movie Night on Wednesday, May 6, 2026: 6:00-8:00pm at the Malden Public Library. We will be showing the movie for Haitian Heritage Month about Mountains. The film stars Atibon Nazaire, Sheila Anozier, and Chris Renois. The film is directed by Monica Sorelle and it has won 11 film festival awards.

“A Haitian demolition worker is faced with the realities of redevelopment as he is tasked with dismantling his rapidly gentrifying neighborhood [in Little Haiti, Miami].” The film explores the changing nature of neighborhoods and how communities change over time. In the Haitian Creole language there is a proverb: Dèyè mòn gen mònwhich means, “Behind mountains there are mountains.” This is a famous Haitian proverb that roughly means when you overcome one obstacle, there is another greater obstacle or challenge ahead of you. This Haitian proverb speaks to the idea of having resilience in life.

Movie Night: Wed., March 18th: 6:00-8:00pm

Please join us for Movie Night on Wednesday, March 18, 2026: 6:00-8:00pm at the Malden Public Library. We will be showing the movie based on the book, Hamnet, by Maggie O’Farrell.

This film is nominated for 8 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, and others. It also won two BAFTA awards including Outstanding British Film and Best Actress. It additionally won two Golden Globes for Best Picture and Best Actress. The film stars Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal and it is directed by Chloe Zhao.

Malden Reads Film Sceening & Discussion: Wed., Feb. 25th: 5:30-8:30pm

Please join us for the Malden Reads Film Screening and discussion of the musical Broadway play based on the life of Alexander Hamilton. We will be showing the film of this Broadway play at the Malden Public Library on Wednesday, February 25, 2025: 5:30-8:30pm. This play won a Pulitzer Prize, a Grammy, and 11 Tony Awards. It stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Daveed Diggs, Reneè Elise Goldsberry, Leslie Odom Jr., and Anthony Ramos. This musical was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Don’t miss this film that portrays “The real life of one of America’s foremost founding fathers and first Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton. Captured live on Broadway from the Richard Rodgers Theater with the original Broadway cast.” The film is Rated PG-13 (160 min.) (2020).

Please join us for Movie Night on Wednesday, January 21, 2026: 6:00-8:30pm at the Malden Public Library. We will be showing Part 2 of a movie based on the bestselling novel, Wicked, by Gregory Maguire. The film stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and Bowen Yang. The movie just won an American Film Institute (AFI) award for one of the top ten films of 2025.

We will be showing the latest film about the Crawley family who live in Downton Abbey. The film stars Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Dominic West, Jim Carter, and Lesley Nicol.
