Teens and Young Adults in the 5th through 12th Grade please join us as we relax in the Maccario Room on Thursday December 10th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.

We will have board games, video games, and arts & crafts, as well as a variety of snacks and drinks. Enjoy spending time with friends before the Winter break at the Malden Public Library.

Teens in the 5th through 12th grade join us on Thursday October 22nd for our movie afternoon. From 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Maccario Room we will be showing the latest movie in the series based on the “Divergent” book series. Starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James in a twisted dystopian future where who you are is decided for you, a rising insurgency challenges the old ways.

The film will have snacks and drinks provided, and runs two hours, so we will start immediately at 3:00.

Teens in the 6^th through 12^th grade join us for craft time Thursday, October 29^th in the Program Room, 3:00 – 5:00 PM. We will be making all kinds of wearable accessories from Duct Tape, including wallets, purses and even Flower Rings. No sign-up required, and all materials will be provided.

Young Adults in the 6th through 12th grade join us for an afternoon of Video, Board and Card Games on Thursday, November 19th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Maccario Room. We will have WiiU games like Mario Kart and Smash Brothers, as well as Dance Dance Revolution, and lots for Board Games. Snacks and drinks will be provided for those who want to relax and have some fun playing games. 

Teens in the 6^th-12^th grade come by and enjoy our Fall Programming Party on WEDNESDAY October 7th from 3:00-5:00 PM. We will have games, crafts, and plenty to eat and drink. Come relax and find out about the upcoming programs at the library this Fall.

Want to play Nintendo wiiU with the new Super Smash Brothers ? How about make a cool craft with your friends? Or do you just want to relax and play ‘Uno’ or ‘Checkers’? Come relax in the Maccario Room on the first floor of the Library and tell your friends.

The Converse LEGO Club for Young Adults in the 4th through 12th grade is starting back up Thursday, December 3rd from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the Program room. We will have a challenge build for the month, but you can also come and free-build anything you can imagine with the Library’s expanding LEGO collection.

Take a look at some of the books that we recently added to the Young Adult collection. We’ve added over a hundred new books in the last month, so there are plenty to choose from. If you need help finding them ask a Librarian and we can help you get a copy for yourself.

1. “Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman”

From many of the top names at DC Comics comes a collection of tales about the Pride of Themyscira herself, the indomitable Wonder Woman. Here we see her in stand alone adventures that take her from Gotham to the edges of time and space. Important Malden trivia here: William Moulton Marston, the creator of Wonder Woman went to Malden High School, he might have dreamed up the idea for her while reading a book in our library.

2. “Another Day” by David Levithan

In this companion book to the author’s bestselling book “Every Day” we get to read the story from the point of view of Rhiannon. This book is for fans of the author’s previous work and who were left wanting more from the award-winning story about identity, relationships, and love.

3. “Rebel Mechanics” by Shanna Swendson

Discover an alternate version of New York in 1888 where the British still rule the ‘colonies’ with the might of magic. This is where sixteen-year-old Verity Newton finds herself, in a world where rebellious Engineers and Mechanics hope to escape from under British rule by creating giant steam constructs. For those looking for historical Steampunk-light novels this is a must read.

4. “Deadpool: Dead Presidents” by Brian Posehn

Join Deadpool in his new series of adventures as he teams up with Thor, Dr. Strange and S.H.I.E.L.D. to take down giant rampaging monsters, an evil elephant and resurrected U.S. Presidents.  Veteran comedian Brian Posehn takes us through the dark, twisted and hilarious world that surrounds the ‘Merc with a Mouth’ in the start of a string of new “Marvel Now!” adventures.

Take a look at the many creations put together by the Converse LEGO club members so far this year. We have created everything from Pixel to planes, race cars to tiny Libraries.  The Converse LEGO Club will return this Fall, so keep your eyes open on the Teen page for more announcements of when and where.

Thanks to all the Teens that took part in the Summer Reading program and came out to our End of the Summer Party. We had over 60 teens sign up, and all told you collectively read over 2000 hours! Our winners combined read over 500 hours together alone.
