Young Adults in the 4^th through 6^th grade can sign-up starting today for the Library’s LEGO Robotics Club. The program starts Thursday, April 14^th and runs for 6 straight weeks, and will be from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Program Room of the Malden Public Library.

This 6-week program is being taught by the Malden YMCA Youth Leaders of the Robotics Program. It is a cumulative course that will teach the basics of engineering, crafting, programming and problem-solving with LEGO Mindstorm Robotic kits. This program will build up to a LEGO robotics competition, and so it is required that participates should be willing to attend all 6 sessions.

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade join us on Wednesday, February 17th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Program Room for a return to the art and craft of Duct Tape. We will be making wallets, clutch purses, rings, and bracelets – all out of the stickiest tape ever made. Choose from the library’s supplies of dozens of diferent colors and styles of Duct Tape, and create whatever you would like.

No sign-up is required but space is limited on a first come first serve basis.

Stop by the Young Adult section of the library and look for the New Books display. If you can’t find any of these titles below feel free to peruse our other new fiction, non-fiction, graphic novel and manga displays. If you have a new book that you would like to suggest that the Library should purchase, talk to the librarian at either the YA or the Information Desk.

For those who loved the hit manga and anime “Attack on Titan” enjoy this comedic and lighter side-series that takes a look at the world in a less-than-serious light. What if all the trainees in the city’s defense had to go to Junior High alongside the brutish Titans?

On Thursday. February 11th, from 3:00 – 5:00 in the Maccario Rooms, teens in the 5^th-12^th grade come by and enjoy our Valentines Day party.

We will have games and crafts as well as food and drinks. Relax and find out about the upcoming programs at the library this Spring.

The Converse LEGO Club for Young Adults in the 4th through 12th grade is returning this Thursday, March 3rd from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the Program room. We have challenge builds from advanced sets and Pixel Art, but you can also just come and free-build anything you can imagine with the Library’s expanding LEGO collection.

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade join us this Thursday, February 25th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM for our monthly Movie Afternoon in the Maccario Room. We will be watching a feature film based on the  YA horror books “Goosebumps” by R.L. Stine, and starring Jack Black as the writer himself. We will have snacks and drinks to enjoy with the film so come and sit back, relax & enjoy the film.

Please join us Wednesday, January 13th in the Program Room from 6:30-8:30 PM for Board Game Night for Adults.

Bring your own board games, or play with the library’s collection that includes: Settlers of Catan, Ticket To Ride, Dominion, Can’t Stop, Forbidden Island and more! Snacks and Refreshments will be served.

Teens and Young Adults in the 5th through 12th Grade join us on Thursday December 17th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM as we travel to a galaxy far, far away for our appropriately timed YA Movie Afternoon.

This is the original film in Director George Lucas’ amazing star-bound trilogy, where we meet Luke Skywalker, a new hope in the war against the evil Darth Vader and the star wars inciting Empire.

This film recently turned 37 years old and is still as fun and imaginative a movie as anything that came before and after it. A sequel trilogy is planned and the first film “The Force Awakens” comes out this month. See the classic film before you experience the new story.

We will show this film in the Maccario Room, snacks and drinks will be provided.
