Young Adult Movie Afternoon

a1d70dedb1003d1760ca4726e3c8c356Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are invited for our Friday Afternoon Movie on Friday, July 22nd from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Macarrio Room. There will be snacks and drinks, provided by Preotle, Lane & Associates.

This week’s film is one of the biggest box office draws of 2016 so far, and stars Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman as they go toe-to-toe in a fight for the ages! In a movie with Batman and Superman fighting, surprisingly though the best part is Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Young Adult Craft: Perler Beads – July 14th

For Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade, join us Thursday July 14th from 3:00 – 4:30 PM for our Afternoon Craft Time: Perler Beads.

Perler Beads are small colorful blocks that you can arrange into any image you can imagine, that are then fused together with heat. Everyone can make at least one item which can be wall art, a picture frame, a keychain or a magnet.

There will be no sign-up for the program but space is limited on a first come, first served basis.

Young Adult Gaming Party – July 15th

Young Adults is the 5th – 12th grade are invited to relax this Friday in the Macarrio Room from 3:00 – 4:30 PM as we game on. hang our with your friends as you play games, enjoy food, and get ready for the weekend by having a good time.

We will have our wiiU available for play, as well as other video and board games. Foods, snacks, and drinks will be provided and are paid for by Preotle, Lane & Associates.

Young Adult Summer Reading Kick-Off

Young Adults going into 6th grade through 12th grade are invited to join the festivities as we start our Summer Reading Program on June 30th, from 3:00 -4:30 PM in the Maccario Room.

We will have video games, board games, crafts, snacks and drinks for all, and if you are interested in signing up for the Reading Program you can do it then and there. Enjoy your Summer while earning rewards and prizes at the Library.

Young Adult Movie Afternoon, Friday July 8th

star-wars-force-awakens-character-postersYoung Adults in the 5th through 12th grade can join us Friday July 8th from 3:00-5:00 PM in the Maccario Room as we host our first Friday Afternoon Movie. Come relax in the Air conditioning, enjoy some snacks and watch a new and popular movie.

 

 

The first film up is the best selling movie of 2015, from acclaimed film-maker J.J. Abrams and the wizards at Disney, comes the 7th film in the massively epic “Star Wars” saga. The Force has lain dormant for years, but suddenly Awakens in a new generation of heroes starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac. Also, who could forget the adorable and charismatic BB-8!

YOUNG ADULT 2016 SUMMER READING PROGRAM

Young Adults currently in the 5th grade through rising 12th graders click here to sign up!

There are a lot of great reasons to sign up for the YOUNG ADULT 2016 SUMMER READING PROGRAM, but here are the details for earning rewards over the next 6 weeks.

 

Books and Shoes*Each week that you read and log at least 5 hours you will qualify to get a prize from the Rewards Box at the Information Desk. Prizes include bags, ear buds, pedometers, books and more! Complete this challenge up to 6 times throughout the Summer

*The Weekly Top Reader (who ever reads and logs the most hours) will receive a $25 Gift Card to one of several businesses local and online including Dunkin Donuts, New England Comics and Amazon.com

*At the end of the Summer the Top Readers Overall (those who read and log the most hours over the 6 week program) will win gift cards of larger amounts, and all participants in the program will have chances to win fun raffle prizes at the End-of-Summer Party.

YA Movie Afternoon

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are invited to join us Thursday, March 31st from 3:00 – 5:30 PM in the Macarrio Room for this month’s Movie Afternoon. We will be watching the finale to the movie series based on the book series “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins, specifically the ultimate book “Mockingjay”.

Young Adult Gaming Party

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are welcome to come by this Thursday, March 17th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Macarrio Room of the Malden Public Library.

Come celebrate the Luck of the Draw with Card Games, Board Games and Video Games with fellow Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade.  Snacks, drinks and pizza will be provided.

Where: The Maccario Room @ Malden Public Library

What: We have got Super Smash Bros. and Mario Cart 8 for the Wii U, Rhythm games like Dance Dance Revolution and Board Games like Settlers of Catan and Forbidden Island.

Arts and Minecrafts, Young Adult Craft Program

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade join us in the Program Room on Thursday, March 24th as we celebrate one of the most popular games of all time through fun crafts.

Create your own Creeper or Pick-Ax key-chain with Perler Beads, or try your hand at Papercraft by making your own blocks or torch. All materials provided by the Friends of the Malden Public Library.
