Young Adult Craft: Jewelry Making

Teens in the 6th grade and up sign-up now for our Young Adult Craft Program: “Jewelry Making“. We will be crafting beautiful creations with the help of librarian Cathy Bartlett.

The program will be Tuesday August 11th, from 3:00-5:00 PM in the Program room on the second floor of the library. Materials will be provided, so all you need to bring is your creativity.

If you want to join us, sign-up is required, and you can do so at the Information Desk at the library, or by calling 781-324-0218 and asking to sign up for the TEEN Jewelry craft.

Young Adult Movie Afternoon

ja_channing_dom_rgb_2764x4096Teens in the 6th Grade and up, join us for a big-budget spectacle Summer Movie on Thursday, July 30, 3pm – 5pm in the Maccario Room. The film is directed by the creators of “The Matrix” and stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. She is the scion of the Planet Jupiter who Ascends to her rightful place on the throne in an intergalactic empire.

The film is brought to us through consideration and funds provided by Preotle, Lane and Associates. Light refreshments and snacks will be served. Door prizes include comics provided by New England jupiter-ascending-character-poster-mila-kunisComics in Malden, MA.

Young Adult Gaming Day

Teens in the 6th grade and up, Tuesday, July 28th we will hold our Summer Gaming Party from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Maccario Room.B009AGXH64hardware

Come test your skill against some of the best players around in Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8 on the Nintendo Wii U system, rock out to rhythm games like Dance Dance Revolution, or relax with friends and play a board game. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided, and comic book door prizes will be given out to all participants.

Young Adult Comic Book Collages

Teens in the 6th grade and up, comic book enthusiasts, and art fans: join us for our Comic Book Collage Art Program. On Tuesday, July 21st from 3:00-5:00 PM join us as we cut, arrange and paste old comic books into beautiful new pieces of art.

We will meet in the Program Room on the 2nd floor of the library, and you don’t need to bring anything except your favorite DC or Marvel comics superhero. Supplies and funding for this program is brought to you by Preotle, Lane & Associates.Mike-Alcantara_web2

Young Adult Anime Club

akiraTeens in the 6th Grade and up experience this Summer’s first Anime Club meeting. We will watch episodes of shows like ‘Naruto‘ or ‘Attack on Titan‘, or maybe even a film such as ‘Akira‘ or ‘Paprika‘.

 

We will meet in the Maccario Room on Friday, July 17th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. Light refreshments and snacks will be available. If you have a favorite manga series feel free to check it out and bring it to the meeting.

Converse LEGO Club

 

Teens in the 5th Grade and up can come and enjoy our Summer Converse LEGO club. The third meeting will be Thursday, August 6th from 3-5 pm. The club meeting will be located in our Program Room on the 2nd floor of the library. Bring your imagination and build something extraordinary!

Teen Summer Movie

Young Adults in the 6th grade and up are welcome to join us on Thursday, July 2nd from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the Maccario Room to watch a film based on a Marvel Comic Book called “Big Hero Six“.  The story involves protagonist Hiro and his behemoth friend Baymax as they team up to stop villains and rogues in Japan, alongside his super-powered friends. The animated feature film has won many awards, including an Oscar for best animated feature.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Door prizes include Marvel comics provided by “New England Comics” here in Malden, with funding from Preotle, Lane & Associates LTD.

Young Adult Summer Reading Kick-Off Party

Malden YMCA Robotic Club for Teens

The Malden YMCA Robotics Club is coming to the Malden Public Library for the next three Thursdays, May 28th, June 4th and June 11th from 3:30–5 pm in the Maccario Room. Teens in the 5th grade and up can reserve their spot today for this three week, in-depth robotics course where they’ll learn how to design, build and program robots.
