Join us at the Malden Public Library for “The Art of Surviving Hard Times: Yvonne Twining Humber and the Federal Art Project,” on Tuesday, April 12, at 7:00 pm.
This talk is part of Malden Reads 2016. In Andy Weir’s The Martian, it not only took Mark Watney’s personal ingenuity, but the commitment of many government agencies working together to get one astronaut back to earth. Between 1935 and 1942, the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) played a major role in supporting New England’s struggling artists. Come explore how this national economic relief program saved lives and helped create great art. The talk will be followed by an art tour of the Converse Memorial Building and Art Galleries.
