Thank you to everyone that made our Drop-In Stitch so much fun. It was a place to bring your projects, meet new people, share your skills and learn from your neighbors.
We will be taking the summer off (Thursday evenings in the summer the Library closes at 6) but will resume in the Fall. Check back here for details soon.
Join the Malden Public Library in celebrating the talents of The Malden Writers’ Collaborative on Thursday, May 26th at 7 p.m. Seven members will share original works of fiction and nonfiction, on relationships, socioeconomics, death, journeys, nature, war, fantasy, and much more!
The Malden Writers’ Collaborative is a creative writing group that meets biweekly at the Malden Public Library. They focus on developing as writers through sharing their own work and critiquing the work of others.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided through the generous support of the Friends of the Malden Public Library. Call the library at 781-324-0218 with any questions.

On Saturday, April 30th from 2–3 pm, kids in grades 1–3 are invited to join Noreen Grice, astronomy educator and author, to make a constellation book at the Malden Public Library. This event is a preview to the Malden Reads family night on Waitt’s Mountain.
Do a craft! Learn about the stars! Make a book! Space is limited, so sign up in the Children’s Room.
The library will be closed on Monday, April 18th in honor of Patriot’s Day. We will reopen on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Spring cleaning time! So gather up all your old papers (tax information from years ago, perhaps) and bring it down to the DPW yard on Saturday, April 30th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. For a mere $5 per brown grocery bag full of paper, you can have all your home tidy and do a good deed by contributing to the Friends of the Malden Public Library.
The Friends is the group that provides the Library, and thus Malden residents, with money for our Museum Tickets, programming for all ages, and many, many more material items. So help the Friends help the Library. Even better, ask about joining the Friends.
Mayor Gary Christenson will be the special guest for a Malden Reads discussion of “The Martian,” by Andy Weir, Wednesday, April 6, 6:30 p.m., in the Ryder Art Gallery at the Malden Public Library, 36 Salem St. Refreshments will be served.
Attention knitters, crocheters, and yarn lovers. Bring a portable craft project and share your talents or problems with others.
The Drop-in Stitch will be held the 4th Thursday of each month (February 25/March 24/April 28/May 26) from 6:30-8 pm at the Library. No sign-up required.
