Through Me To You Puppetry

Next Tuesday: Through Me to You: Puppet Storytime! Join Leigh, Newton, and the rest of the Through Me to You Puppetry gang for 30 minutes of stories and songs performed by the puppets, followed by Puppet Free Play. The stories & songs are interactive, allowing the kids to engage both their minds and bodies during the show. Recommended for ages 5-7, and there is no registration required! The program is generously funded by Preotle, Lane & Associates, Ltd.

Let’s Talk About A Poem with Lloyd Schwartz returns on Sept 14, 2024.   This month features the poem “Among School Children” by William Butler Yeats.

Our monthly online poetry discussion group is led by Somerville’s Poet Laureate Lloyd Schwartz.

Registration is required and the link to join is sent out the day before the event.

This program is made possible by the Malden Public Library and the Academy of American Poets and funds from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Mystic River for All! Mystic Valley Watershed Association

Thursday, Aug. 8th at 6pm! The Mystic Valley Watershed Association will be coming by to talk about the Malden River as a part of the Mystic Valley Watershed, and how a healthy environment and access to nature can benefit our community as a whole! NASA @ My Library Take-Home Art Craft

Youth and Young Adults that have signed up for our Summer Reading Program are welcome to the library today, Monday August 5th to pick up a NASA @ My Library take home art bag! The August theme for NASA’s Science Place for creating original artwork is about the ASTHROS mission to Antarctica, and you can find out more about it here.

The craft kit includes a small paint brush, watercolors, canvas and eraser, as well as some fun bookmarks, postcards and a sticker from NASA. Paint your masterpiece and submit it to the Science Place website to have your original art featured on the website here.

These take home arts kits are limited to one bag per household, for only 3rd graders through 12th graders only, and you must be signed up for the Summer Reading program in order to take a bag home with you. No other sign-up is required and the kits are first come first serve starting today, so stop by the library when you have a chance and blast off into space.

Pumpernickel Puppets Performance!

Pumpernickel Puppets will be performing Monday, August 5th, 3-3:45pm in the Maccario Room! This free performance will include “Three Billy Goats Gruff,” and “The Lion and the Mouse,” as well as a demonstration of how puppets work. Recommended for children ages 3 and up, and no registration required. This program is generously funded by Preotle, Lane & Associates, Ltd.
