Young Adult End of Summer Party

Young Adults in the 5th – 12th grade are welcome to join us on Thursday August 17th from 3:00 – 4:30 PM in the Maccario Room for a relaxing and rewarding party.

Come play video games, eat pizza, enjoy snacks and beverages, and earn prizes based on how much you read during our YA Reading Program. Everyone will have a raffle ticket, but the more you read over the summer the more tickets you get.

We will announce the Top 3 winners for the entire YA Summer Reading Program, hand out our prizes and raffle off gifts.

Young Adult Movie Afternoon – August 11th

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are invited to GO GO and watch a massive action hit, with our latest Movie Afternoon. On Friday, August 11th from 3:00 – 5:00 we will have snacks, beverages and a movie in the Maccario Room of the library. The film is a reboot of the classic 90’s children’s show “The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers”.

 

 

Endless Summer Kicks Off “Live on the Lawn” Summer Concert Series ~ July 26th

The Malden Public Library’s “Live on the Lawn” Summer Concert Series kicks off on Wednesday, July 26, at 7:00 pm featuring the band Endless Summer.

Boston’s own summertime band, Endless Summer, led by guitarist Ken Freeman, plays warm weather favorites and fun dance music heard at beach resorts throughout New England.  Focusing on the repertoire from artists such as The Beach Boys, Bob Marley, Van Morrison, The Beatles, The Eagles, Otis Redding, Tom Petty, Neil Young and Jimmy Buffet, Endless Summer will help you feel the warmth of the sun and get your feet moving in the grass.

Endless Summer has opened up a show featuring the legendary Beach Boys at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion and hosted an open-air concert at the Rose Kennedy Park to celebrate Brain Wilson’s birthday. The group has also performed at great summer venues including the Regatta Place, Museum of Science Pavillion, Thompson Island, Fenway Park, Fan Pier, TD Banknorth Garden, Odyssey Cruises, Vineyard Vines Boston and the Seaport Hotel.

The Summer Series continues on Aug. 2: Slow Boat Home; August 16: Outdoor Movie Night; and August 23: One and All Band.

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and experience a great night of outdoor live music at the Malden Public Library (36 Salem Street).  All concerts are free and sponsored by the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation, with additional support from the Friends of the Malden Public Library.  In case of rain, concerts will be held inside.  For more information, contact the Malden Public Library, 36 Salem Street, at 781-324-0218 or at www.maldenpubliclibrary.org.

 

Young Adult Craft: Perler Beads, Tues. August 1st

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th Grade are invited to take part in our popular Perler Bead Craft Programs on Tuesday, August 1st from 3:00 – 4:30 PM in the program room of the library.

Come and design your own art, jewelry, or collectible figure made entirely out of small fused beads. All the materials are provided, but feel free to look of your own designs online beforehand, and we will have some printed out here as well.

 

Young Adult Movie Afternoon – July 21st

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are invited to watch this year’s most amazing Disney live-action film, with our latest Movie Afternoon. On Friday, July 21st from 3:00 – 5:00 we will have snacks, beverages and a movie in the Maccario Room of the library.

The film stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens and Luke Evans, and is a live action remake of Disney’s Classic 1991 Animated “Beauty and the Beast”.

From Walden to Malden: Thoreau’s 200th Birthday at Pine Banks Park July 12th 6PM

Join us at beautiful Pine Banks Park, Pavilion 4 (1087 Main St.) on Wednesday, July 12th @ 6pm for a celebration of the bicentennial of the birth of Henry David Thoreau with a discussion of his Walden or Life in the Woods.

There are still free copies available of the book at the Library while supplies last.

 

Young Adult Gaming Party – July 27th

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th Grade are invited to relax, have fun, and play some games at the Malden Public Library. Join us on Thursday, July 27th from 3:00 – 4:30 PM as we roll some dice, play some cards and smash buttons with our YA Gaming Party. We will have board games and video games, as well as food, snacks and drinks for everyone.

YA Craft: Potted Plants – July 11th

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th Grade are invited to Craft a Better World at the Malden Public Library in the Program Room on Tuesday, July 11th, from 3:00 – 4:30 PM. Join us as we design, decorate and fill personalized potted planters.We will be painting so wear clothes that you don’t mind if getting dirty, and we will fill the plants with starter herbs, succulents and plants outside, weather permitting afterwards.

Young Adult Anime Party – Fairy Tail!

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are welcome to join us in the Macarrio Room on Thursday, July 13th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM for our Summer Anime Afternoon. We are going to watch a film based on the manga “Fairy Tail”.

Join the Fairy Tail Guild in watching the movie, and the first 20 guild members at the door will get a gift bag with cards, a lanyard and a Celestial spirit key. Drinks and Snacks will be provided by funds from Preotle, Lane & Associates.

YA Summer Reading Kickoff Party

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are invited to the Malden Public Library on June 29 from 3:00 – 4:30 PM. We will be kicking off our Summer Reading Program with a party, come play games, relax and enjoy snacks, cool drinks and pizza. Find out about how you can win prizes and our end of the Summer Raffle tickets will work.
