Young Adults in the 6th through 12th grade are invited to join us on Thursday November 16th in the Macarrio Room from 3:00 – 5:00 PM to watch one of the best-selling Anime films of all time.
Mitsuha and Taki are high school students in Japan, one lives in the country side and the other in metropolis Tokyo. When they wake up in one another’s bodies they begin to try and find one another, and uncover the mystery of an odd comet passing overhead.

“No Mutiny This Time” is the title of filmmaker Neil D. Novello’s thought-provoking talk & video presentation about the circumstances leading to the sinking of the tall ship, Bounty during Hurricane Sandy on October 29, 2012
“Bounty & Her Captain” the video portion of his presentation is “NOT a documentary but a “video essay”, like a print essay,” his personal perspective that is, “Part Testimonial”, with exclusive interviews with Captain Walbridge &“Part Shipbuilding showing work done at Boothbay Harbor Maine shipyard” and “Part Hollywood Ballyhoo” because Bounty was built exclusively for the 1962 remake of the Hollywood classic, Mutiny on the Bounty.”
Since 1985, Neil Novello’s award- winning career includes – documentaries, television news, and family biographies. His documentaries about the Portsmouth Naval Prison in Kittery, Maine were featured at the New Hampshire & Portland Maine Film Festivals & available on DVD. Join us for a special event Classic Movie Night on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 6:00-8:30pm. We will be showing the 1935 classic film, “Mutiny on the Bounty” with Clark Gable.

Ever wanted to write a novel but you just needed motivation? Here’s your chance! November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel. We’re throwing a write-in and kick off party to discuss the basics and begin working towards the 50,000 word goal!
Bring your trusty notebook or a dependable laptop and write amongst other NaNoWriMo hopefuls.
Afterwards, socialize with fellow writers over refreshments generously provided by The Malden Writers’ Collaborative.

Bring a little cheer to a struggling family. Library patrons can contribute to the Salvation Army’s work in Malden to make the holiday season festive for others. Lend a hand in creating a memorable Thanksgiving for those who might otherwise not be able to celebrate.

Ethnic foods are welcomed; staples, such as rice or beans, are always good additions to the pantry.
The collection container will be out on the main floor opposite the circulation desk. The food drive will continue after Thanksgiving to accept donations for Christmas.
The Friends of the Malden Public Library is holding their annual Book Sale on Friday, October 27th from 6–9 pm (Friends members only night) and Saturday, October 28th from 10 am—4 pm (open to the general public). We have a LARGE collection of fiction, non-fiction, world language books, children’s and teen titles, and lots of undiscovered gems.
The Friends of the Malden Public Library is a non-profit group dedicated to raising money to fund programs and buy items for the Malden Public Library. Through the book sale and other fund-raising activities, the Friends purchase the museum passes, fund our wifi, buy computers, and a list of other things too numerous to list. It is easy to join the Friends—stop by the library and ask for a form. Or come to the book sale on Friday, October 27th and join at the door.

Join us on October 30th from 3:00 – 4:30 PM as we hang out, relax and have a fun with friends. Enjoy the WiiU, PS4 and boardgames while enjoying pizza and snacks provided by the Friends of the Malden Public Library.
