Thanks to all the Teens that took part in the Summer Reading program and came out to our End of the Summer Party. We had over 60 teens sign up, and all told you collectively read over 2000 hours! Our winners combined read over 500 hours together alone.

Join licensed hair stylist Brittany Judkins on Tuesday, August 4 from 6–8:30 pm for a hair braiding class. Brittany will teach different braiding options and show tips on how you can improve your technique.

Just bring a friend. All other supplies are supplied by the Library free of charge.

Teens in the 6th grade and up sign-up now for our Young Adult Craft Program: “Jewelry Making“. We will be crafting beautiful creations with the help of librarian Cathy Bartlett.

The program will be Tuesday August 11th, from 3:00-5:00 PM in the Program room on the second floor of the library. Materials will be provided, so all you need to bring is your creativity.

If you want to join us, sign-up is required, and you can do so at the Information Desk at the library, or by calling 781-324-0218 and asking to sign up for the TEEN Jewelry craft.

Teens in the 6th Grade and up, join us for a big-budget spectacle Summer Movie on Thursday, July 30, 3pm – 5pm in the Maccario Room. The film is directed by the creators of “The Matrix” and stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. She is the scion of the Planet Jupiter who Ascends to her rightful place on the throne in an intergalactic empire.

The film is brought to us through consideration and funds provided by Preotle, Lane and Associates. Light refreshments and snacks will be served. Door prizes include comics provided by New England Comics in Malden, MA.

Teens in the 6th grade and up, Tuesday, July 28th we will hold our Summer Gaming Party from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Maccario Room.

Come test your skill against some of the best players around in Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8 on the Nintendo Wii U system, rock out to rhythm games like Dance Dance Revolution, or relax with friends and play a board game. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided, and comic book door prizes will be given out to all participants.

The Malden Public Library welcomes you to our new website. We think you will enjoy the improvements we have made. All of the content from the previous site has been included, plus much more. This new site is much more versatile and automatically adapts its format to any computer, tablet or mobile device to give you the best user experience. The design is cleaner and easier to read while being more colorful and visual at the same time. A few parts of the new site are still under construction, but this will not interfere with your use.

Some highlights of the new site include:

• The new web site uses responsive design, making it easier to view on all your media devices, from desktop computer to mobile phone
• Website can be viewed in many different languages via the Translate pull-down in the upper right of the Home page
• Easy search box for the catalog, hours, events, and more
• New children’s and teen pages
• New pages for Converse Memorial Building and Local History Resources

Teens in the 6th grade and up, comic book enthusiasts, and art fans: join us for our Comic Book Collage Art Program. On Tuesday, July 21st from 3:00-5:00 PM join us as we cut, arrange and paste old comic books into beautiful new pieces of art.

We will meet in the Program Room on the 2nd floor of the library, and you don’t need to bring anything except your favorite DC or Marvel comics superhero. Supplies and funding for this program is brought to you by Preotle, Lane & Associates.

Monday, July 27th from 6-8:30 pm.

Learn to make your own elegant bracelet with Cathy Bartlett, a member of our children’s room staff. Through this fun class, Cathy will guide you through the whole process from start to finish of how to make simple but beautiful pieces of jewelry that you can wear with pride.
