Carlos is a professional photographer from Mexico with over 15 years’ experience documenting urban life, both locally and
internationally. His fine art photographs capture the world through a realist’s lens – showcase the grit of humanity with
political undertones. Mr. Arzaga’s exhibit offers a glimpse to urban landscapes and its people around the globe, from the
streets of La Paz, Bolivia to the markets of Jerusalem. This series of photos are an invitation to explore everyday activities in
different settings across the countries.
Mr. Arzaga’s exhibit will be on display through the month of December.

Give a deserving family a helping hand this Thanksgiving. Maldonians can help neighbors in need by contributing to the Malden Public Library’s food drive to benefit the local Salvation Army food pantry on Main St. Join the Library’s annual tradition of making this time of year special for those who might otherwise not be able to celebrate. We are aiming to collect a total of 150 individual items for the holiday. Our Annual Food Drive will be held from November 4, 2019 until December 31, 2019.
Canned goods and other non-perishables are needed. These will be gladly accepted:
stuffing
dry gravy
mashed potatoes
canned tuna, chicken or other canned meats
apple sauce
cranberry sauce
peanut butter
International foods are welcomed; staples, such as rice or beans, are always good additions to the pantry. The collection container will be out on the main floor opposite the circulation desk.
If you haven’t been to the Library before, this is a chance to come by and see what the Library has to offer. We are always happy to introduce newcomers to audio and ebooks, exhibits, film programs, writing and book discussion groups, the world languages collection, and much more. Young Adults in the 6th through 12th grade are invited to prepare for the holiday season (and break) by relaxing at the Malden Public Library. Join us on Thursday, December 19th, from 3:00-4:30 as we play games, enjoy snacks and hang out in the Maccario Room.
The City of Malden will kick off the Holiday Season with the 16th Annual Parade of Holiday Traditions on Saturday, November 30th at 2 PM. The Parade will lift off at the Salemwood School on Waite Street Extension, will bear left onto Maplewood Street, and will then travel west on Salem Street. The Parade will conclude at the reviewing stand which will be located at the corner of Ferry, Salem and Main Streets. All children should bring their letters to Santa so that his helpers from the Post Office can collect and send them to the North Pole!
At the conclusion of the Parade, everyone is invited to the City Christmas Tree Lighting on the lawn of the Malden Public Library.
Kelly is drawn toward vivid colors and printing on different mediums to draw out the vibrancy. Whether it is photographing the nostalgia of an amusement park, capturing the beauty of flowers in bloom or discovering interesting piles of brightly colored buckets at an antique show, she finds color and light in ordinary things we all take for granted.
All of Kelly’s pieces are available for sale and can be ordered in other sizes if needed.
