NASA @ My Library: Sorting Games & Moon Phases – Apr. 28th

Youth and Young Adults are invited to join in a live event at the Malden Public Library as part of our NASA @ My Library programming.

Join us on Thursday, April 28th from 3PM to 4:00 in the Program Room to play the Sorting Game and learn about the phases of the moon with sandwich cookies!

NASA @ My Library Take&Make: Pinwheel Universe!

We have a new grab and go fast, scientific and fun kit starting today at the Malden Public Library. Stop by the information desk located on the first floor to grab your kit with everything you need to create your own pinwheel of the cosmos.

Learn about how telescopes have helped us develop a view of distant galaxies and stay tuned to the rest of our NASA @ My Library partnership programs coming soon to the library in person.

 

Young Adult Perler Bead Craft – Thurs. March 31st 3:00-4:30 PM

Young Adults in the 6th-12th grade are invited to craft from the library’s Perler bead collection on Thurs. March 31st from 3:00-4:30 PM in the Maccario Room.

Create lanyards, key chains kitchen magnets and more from colorful plastic beads in whatever style you would like. Space and time is limited to make sure to come up with an idea and arrive on time for this in-person craft event.

Yound Adult Gaming & Crafts – Thursday March 17th @ 3:00 PM

Young Adults in the 6th through 12th grade are invited back to the Malden Public Library on Thursday March 17th from 3:00-4:30 in the Maccario Room.

We will have our video games, board games and arts and crafts out to enjoy to welcome you back to in-person programming this Spring. Decorate your own cookies and enjoy snacks while playing games and relaxing at the library. Sign-ups for the Teen Advisory Groups next year of meetings will be open to any participants.

NASA @ My Library: Soda Straw Rockets

Youth and Young Adults are invited to learn rocket science!

This easy take-home craft is brought to you by the California Institute of Technology’s JPL (Jet Propulsion Lab) and will teach you how to craft a paper rocket that can be launched from a soda straw. Then it will ask you to modify and design a better rocket while measuring your results and performing Science.

NASA @ My Library: “SPACE FOOD” Grab-and-Go Craft

To all inspiring space technicians, this month’s NASA @ My Library program is available for sign-up and pickup at the Malden Public Library.

“SPACE FOOD” is a craft bag that asks you to create a food system for use on the International Space Station. Design your own invention and follow the directions in the bag to submit your creations via email or on twitter.

Call 781-324-0218 to place your name on the reservation list. Please limit one bag per household, recommended for ages 8 and up. Each bag comes with a goldfish snack, juice pouch and fruit leather.

NASA @ My Library: James Webb Space Telescope Launch Reminder

As a potential holiday surprise the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope has been rescheduled for Friday, Dec. 25th at 7:20 AM EST.

Watch the launch of the heavy payload Ariane-5 rocket LIVE on NASA’s page or their official youtube channel.

Follow the story, learn all about the telescope and its year long mission before the launch. Chart its course as it traverses the solar system over the next year.

Young Adult Movie Afternoon, Dec. 9th 3:00-5:00 PM

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are invited to enjoy the latest and greatest Marvel film in person at the MPL this week. On Thursday, December 9th at 3:00-5:00 PM we will be showing the film based on the comic book character “Shang Chi” in the Maccario Room.

Seating is limited to first come first serve and masks are required, though light refreshments and snacks will be served.

NASA @ My Library: Life Cycle of a Massive Star Craft!

Student learners and junior astronomers of all ages are invited to take part in the NASA @ My Library program. Our next program is a bead-craft to help learn about the Life Cycle of a Star. Each kit has a Star Cycle bookmark, beads and lace to make either a necklace or a couple of small bracelets.
