Malden, you went above and beyond this summer. Congratulations on reading 568,523 minutes since July 1st, exceeding our goal of half a million minutes! Whether 15 minutes, 15 hours, or 150 hours, our wonderful patrons made time to read and worked together to achieve something remarkable. The challenge may be over, but we look forward to hearing about what you’re reading all year long!

Join us on the front lawn (36 Salem St) on Saturday, August 7th from 11 am to 2 pm for a mini book sale, held by the Friends of the Malden Public Library. Fiction (both adult and young adult) and children’s books will be available, along with DVDs.
After a little shopping at the library, head down to Pleasant St for the City’s Summer Festival.

Celebrate writing! Join Malden’s own creative writing group, the Malden Writers’ Collaborative, for their 11th Annual Public Reading on Thursday, August 5th 7-8:30PM online on the Malden Public Library’s YouTube Channel. The group meets twice a month to workshop each others’ work, share ideas, and practice writing techniques. A direct link will be posted shortly before the event.
Members of the 2020-2021 season will read original works.

Love poetry? Join us on the library portico (Salem Street entrance) to share poems you love or have written in an informal setting. Bring 2-3 poems and enjoy the opportunity to discuss and discover poetry with your neighbors.

Join us outside on the portico (Salem Street entrance) to play board games with your neighbors! We will provide games (Settlers of Catan, chess, Scrabble, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, Risk, Monopoly, and more) and beverages. Feel free to bring along a game you want to play with others.
