Seager’s work is usually simple still life, landscapes, figure paintings, and drawings. He plays with shapes, light, shade, color, loose brushwork, and composition. His work will be on display at the Library through the month of October.
Are you a local Malden artist looking to display your work? The Malden Public Library is now accepting applications for the monthly Rotating Art Exhibit! The Malden Writers’ Collaborative will host their Informational Session on Thursday, October 4th at 7PM in the Maccario Room. Here we will give go over group expectations, group etiquette, hear first-hand experiences from previous season members, and answer any questions.
At the end of this session interested parties will sign up for the 2018-2019 season. The group meets the first and third Thursday of the month, 7-8:30PM, October-May, culminating in a Public Reading.
You must attend the Information Session in order to sign up– the group will then be closed to additional members until the 2019-2020 season.
Young Adults in the 6th through 12th grade are invited to game on the big screen at the Malden Public Library. On Tuesday September 18th from 3:00 – 4:30 join us as we play the newly released NBA 2K19 on PS4 in the Maccario Room.
We will have some snacks and drinks to enjoy while we game, and play a few quarters of new digital b-ball.
The Friends of the Malden Public Library are excited to invite you to the first Brews for Books fundraiser on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 5-8 pm. Taste the wares of local craft breweries and cider makers and enjoy food from our local Malden eateries in the historic Converse Library and Art Galleries. There will be live music, games, raffle items, and a silent auction. Tickets are $35 and available at the Malden Public Library and online at www.localwineevents.com. Don’t wait; tickets are limited. You must be 21 years old to attend this event.
Stop by the Library to check out our September Rotating Artist Ashley Wilichoski! Ashley uses a wide range of colors to create beautiful fluid art. Ashley’s art will be on display at the Library through the month of September.
September is National Library Card Sign-up Month
September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide join together to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step towards academic achievement and lifelong learning.
Join us for Movie Night on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, from 6:00-7:45pm. We will be showing a recent movie based on the life of Fred Rogers, who sang “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” in the popular children’s TV show, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. The movie has a 99% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
This film is “an exploration of the life, lessons, and legacy of iconic children’s television host, Fred Rogers.” The San Francisco Chronicle writes that the movie is “…an enlightening and deeply touching documentary.…” Rolling Stone notes, “In these trouble times, it’s a good feeling see a funny, touching and vital [documentary] that is both timely and timeless.”
