YA Movie Afternoon: Oct. 22nd

Teens in the 5th through 12th grade join us on Thursday October 22nd for our movie afternoon. From 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Maccario Room we will be showing the latest movie in the series based on the “Divergent” book series. Starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James in a twisted dystopian future where who you are is decided for you, a rising insurgency challenges the old ways.

The film will have snacks and drinks provided, and runs two hours, so we will start immediately at 3:00.

Craft Time: Duct Tape Accessories

Teens in the 6th through 12th grade join us for craft time Thursday, October 29th in the Program Room, 3:00 – 5:00 PM. We will be making all kinds of wearable accessories from Duct Tape, including wallets, purses and even Flower Rings. No sign-up required, and all materials will be provided.url

Origami Christmas Trees

Origami enthusiast James Hollis will be sharing his knowledge on Wednesday, October 21st from 6:30–8:30 pm at the Malden Public Library. Just in time for the holiday season, James will be featuring Origami Christmas Trees this session.

Materials and instruction are free and will be provided, thanks to the funding of the Friends of the Malden Public Library.  Please bring a ruler and a pair of scissors.  Space is limited and advance registration is required, so please sign up early at Information Desk.

 

Young Adult Games Day

Young Adults in the 6th through 12th grade join us for an afternoon of Video, Board and Card Games on Thursday, November 19th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Maccario Room. We will have WiiU games like Mario Kart and Smash Brothers, as well as Dance Dance Revolution, and lots for Board Games. Snacks and drinks will be provided for those who want to relax and have some fun playing games. AdultGameNight

Young Adult Fall Party

Teens in the 6th-12th grade come by and enjoy our Fall Programming Party on WEDNESDAY October 7th from 3:00-5:00 PM. We will have games, crafts, and plenty to eat and drink. Come relax and find out about the upcoming programs at the library this Fall.

Want to play Nintendo wiiU with the new Super Smash Brothers ? How about make a cool craft with your friends? Or do you just want to relax and play ‘Uno’ or ‘Checkers’? Come relax in the Maccario Room on the first floor of the Library and tell your friends.

Join the Malden Writers’ Collaborative!

Are you a local writer? Are you interested in joining a community of committed writers? Are you looking for people to workshop your manuscript and are you committed to doing the same for others in return? Are you open minded, respectful, and encouraging to fellow writers and to the writing process? Then please join The Malden Writers’ Collaborative for their Informational Session on Thursday, October 1st at the Malden Public Library beginning promptly at 7:00 PM.
Here we will talk about group expectations, group etiquette, and hear first hand experiences from past members. Interested parties will sign up for the 2015-2016 season at the end of the session. Consumer Reports Online at Home or in the Library

We are pleased to offer Consumer Reports for both in-library and home use. Simply enter your library card number, and when you get to the search box, type in Consumer Reports. The current issue, plus back issues from 1991 on, are available.

If you’d like to search the Consumer Reports Index for a specific item, in the search box type Consumer Reports Index. An 8 year back issue index will allow you to search for articles.

The Converse LEGO Club for Young Adults in the 4th through 12th grade is starting back up Thursday, December 3rd from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the Program room. We will have a challenge build for the month, but you can also come and free-build anything you can imagine with the Library’s expanding LEGO collection.
