Author Talk with Michael Hartigan (Stone Angels)

Author Michael Hartigan will read from his new book Stone Angels (Merrimack Media) at the Malden Public Library on Monday, December 7, at 7:00 p.m. Copies of the book will be available at the reading.

Hartigan studied English and Psychology at Providence College, which is where much of the Stone Angels story takes place. He earned a graduate degree at Boston University before entering politics and public relations. Hartigan is the winner of the 2015 Outstanding Writer award from Merrimack Media. A native of Saugus, Hartigan currently lives in Massachusetts with his wife and daughter.

Stone Angels, Hartigan’s gritty and fast-paced debut novel, follows Augustine Shaw as he embarks on a road trip from college in Providence, Rhode Island to Key West, Florida, where he hopes the sun and insobriety will help drown his past. But the reprieve is only temporary. On the dark road home, Shaw is thrust into a dizzying array of memories, forcing him to relive the heartache he caused, the reputations he shattered, and the two friends he killed. Shaw races towards a final decision: bury his secrets forever, or seek redemption in the arms of a full confession. Visit http://www.stoneangelsbook.com/ for details, photos, and an author bio.

The Malden Public Library is located at 36 Salem Street, Malden, MA. For more upcoming library events, check out the library at www.maldenpubliclibrary.org.

Young Adult Movie Afternoon December 17th

Death-Star-starcopiaTeens and Young Adults in the 5th through 12th Grade join us on Thursday December 17th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM as we travel to a galaxy far, far away for our appropriately timed YA Movie Afternoon.

This is the original film in Director George Lucas’ amazing star-bound trilogy, where we meet Luke Skywalker, a new hope in the war against the evil Darth Vader and the star wars inciting Empire.

This film recently turned 37 years old and is still as fun and imaginative a movie as anything that came before and after it. A sequel trilogy is planned and the first film “The Force Awakens” comes out this month. See the classic film before you experience the new story.

We will show this film in the Maccario Room, snacks and drinks will be provided. xwing_big
