Thursday, December 8th, 6-8PM Pastel Paint Stunning Still Lifes with Gregory Maichack

Learn the art of pastels with award-winning pastel artist, Gregory Maichack, on Thursday, December 8th, from 6-8pm. Sign up by calling the library at 781-324-0218. This program is limited to adult patrons.

In this new, highly researched two-hour workshop, participants have fun producing their own still life pastel paintings. Gregory Maichack is a seasoned pro at teaching pastel techniques, as recognized by the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) Boston; Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), and hundreds of libraries and local cultural councils. Maichack demonstrates how beginners to accomplished artists can paint a still life while applying techniques applied by masters such as van Gogh, O’Keeffe, Monet & Maichack himself.

The still life is a genre chosen by famous artists throughout history as a subject. Participants benefit from the techniques culled from these masters as reflected in their individual painting approaches in historical context. As always, all will keep their pastel paintings and use hundreds of his professional-grade pastels, paper, and materials, all supplied.

This project is supported in part by the Friends of the Malden Public Library and a grant from the Malden Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
