Young Adults in the the 6th through 12th grade are invited to the Maccario Room of the Malden Public Library on Thursday, August 22nd from 3:00-4:30 for our End of Summer wrap up party. Enjoy video games, board games, snacks, pizza and prizes for everyone that completed our Summer Reading Program.

Next Tuesday: Through Me to You: Puppet Storytime! Join Leigh, Newton, and the rest of the Through Me to You Puppetry gang for 30 minutes of stories and songs performed by the puppets, followed by Puppet Free Play. The stories & songs are interactive, allowing the kids to engage both their minds and bodies during the show. Recommended for ages 5-7, and there is no registration required! This Friday, Aug. 9th, 10:30-11:30am! Join us with Firefighter Sara to learn about fire safety, and to celebrate the 80th birthday of Smokey Bear! This program is located in the Children’s Room, and recommended for ages 4 and up. No registration is required.
Youth and Young Adults that have signed up for our Summer Reading Program are welcome to the library today, Monday August 5th to pick up a NASA @ My Library take home art bag! The August theme for NASA’s Science Place for creating original artwork is about the ASTHROS mission to Antarctica, and you can find out more about it here.
The craft kit includes a small paint brush, watercolors, canvas and eraser, as well as some fun bookmarks, postcards and a sticker from NASA. Paint your masterpiece and submit it to the Science Place website to have your original art featured on the website here.
These take home arts kits are limited to one bag per household, for only 3rd graders through 12th graders only, and you must be signed up for the Summer Reading program in order to take a bag home with you. No other sign-up is required and the kits are first come first serve starting today, so stop by the library when you have a chance and blast off into space.
Pumpernickel Puppets will be performing Monday, August 5th, 3-3:45pm in the Maccario Room! This free performance will include “Three Billy Goats Gruff,” and “The Lion and the Mouse,” as well as a demonstration of how puppets work. Future entomologists, get ready to bug out at the Arthropod Petting Zoo, hosted by Professor Bugman! Come learn how these amazingly diverse animals have adapted to survive and thrive in a bug-eat-bug world. This Thursday, Aug. 1, 3-4pm in the Maccario Room! Sing, dance, and get a little loco! Rockabye Beats is more than just an entertaining music program for young children—it’s a place where friends are made and families grow closer by creating music together! Join us at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, for some musical fun as Berklee-graduat

Awesome craft program alert! In keeping with our summer theme of conservation, we are having a very special craft program. Artist Bobby Brown will teach kids ages 7-11 how to make art with recycled objects. This program will be held Thursday, July 25th from 2-4pm, in the program room on the second floor.
