UPDATED: Young Adult Jackbox Trivia!

Young Adults in the 6th through 12th grade are invited to test their Trivia chops as we dive into the world of Trivia Murder Party 2! Jackbox games will require that you have access to Zoom and a separate window or mobile device. The game is trivia with a twist of mini-games and macabre humor!

The overall winner, or group of winners if needs dictate, will be entered into a drawing for a $10 Gift Card, so more than pride is on the line!

UPDATED: Young Adult Craft: Perler Beads

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are invited to get crafty with the library’s Perler Bead collection. Craft anything you can imagine live online while in the comfort of your own home. Starting Friday July 17th you can pick up a home kit of Perler Bead materials from the Malden Public Library and get ready to craft!

We will meet in a Zoom call on Thursday, July 23rd from 3:00 – 4:00 PM to go over some good techniques for making something out of perler beads, and how to get started in this fun hobby! Please email pbrennan@maldenpubliclibrary.org for access to the Zoom link.

UPDATE: YA Book Discussion: Rick Riordan, July 20th

Young Adults in the 6th-12th grade are invited to take part in our first Summer Reading online book discussions on July 20th from 3PM-4PM.

Join Librarian Patrick as we take a look at Rick Riordan’s series of mythological book series and talk about the history behind some of them. This conversation will take place over Zoom, and a recording will be made available after the event goes live. Sign up for Summer Reading on Beanstack to be added to the e-mail list.

YA Holiday Party – February 13th

Young Adults in the 6th through 12th Grade are invited to celebrate the season at the Malden Public Library with games, snacks and crafts. Join us on Thursday February 13th, from 3:00 – 4:30 PM as we take over the Maccario Room of the library.

We’ll have board games, the Nintendo wiiU and ps4 set up, Valentine’s card crafts, snack, drinks and pizza! Join us to relax and spend time with friends in the Malden Public Library.

Board Game Night for Adults, Tuesday, March 3rd

Grab your dice, cards and meeples because its time for another Board Game Night for Adults hosted at the Malden Public Library. Join us TUESDAY,  March 3rd from 6:30 – 8:30 PM as we play games like Settlers of Catan, Pandemic, Dominion and more in the Library’s game collection.
 
If you’d like to bring your own games as well, feel free, though keep in mind that you only have two hours. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

YA Haunted Library Tour! Oct. 30th

Call 781-324-0218 to add yourself to the sign-up list to take a Haunted Tour of the Malden Public Library.

The tour is on Wednesday, OCT. 30th, from 4:00-5:00 PM and will meet near the Maccario Room

Learn about the ghost stories and bloody past of your hometown, while exploring normally inaccessible parts of the library!

Please only Young Adults in the 6th through 12th grade need apply, light refreshments and snacks will be served at the end of the tour…IF YOU SURVIVE THE FRIGHTS!

Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Meeting – September 26th

Young Adults in the 6th-12th Grade are invited to take part in the first of this school year’s quarterly meeting of the Malden Public Library’s ‘Teen Advisory Group’ or TAG board.

The TAG will advise our Information Librarian in charge of the Young Adult department on what books to buy, what programs to run this Fall, and how to make the library more fun for teens. Our meeting will be in the Program Room of the library from 4:00-5:00 PM on Thursday, September 26th.

Members of the TAG board will get free books, and we will have snacks and drinks for our meetings. In addition to doing it for fun it looks great on college applications and resumes. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail librarian Patrick Brennan at pbrennan@maldenpubliclibrary.org.
