Malden Reads’ 2022 Selection

The Malden Reads selection for 2022 is An American Sunrise by Joy Harjo.

Organized by community groups, city leaders, and residents, in collaboration with the Malden Public Library and UMA (Urban Media Arts), the program invites the community of Malden to read the same book and participate in a series of events related to the book’s themes.

Malden Public Library is officially a NASA@ My Library partner!

We’re thrilled to announce that the Malden Public Library has been selected to be part of NASA@ My Library, a nationwide science-technology programming initiative.

Get ready for some STEAM and NASA programs, everyone! This program is focused on getting the youth into STEAM programs related to space, but we will have live and online events for patrons of all ages!

Movie Night in the Park at Rivers Edge: Fri., Oct. 8th: 7:00pm

The Malden Public Library and Preotle, Lane & Associates present “Movie Night in the Park at River’s Edge” on Friday, October 8th at 7:00 p.m.

The movie will be on The Park at River’s Edge Great Lawn adjacent to 200 River’s Edge Drive in Medford. The Great Lawn section of the park will be transformed into an outdoor movie theatre where residents and visitors of all ages are welcome to gather and enjoy a free movie night featuring “Hotel Transylvania.”

The movie tells the story of Count Dracula, he’s the owner of the hotel called Hotel Transylvania where the world’s monsters can take a rest from humans. Dracula invites some of the most famous monsters to celebrate the 118th birthday of his beloved daughter Mavis. When the “human free hotel” is unexpectedly visited by an ordinary 21-year-old traveler named Jonathan, Dracula must do everything in his power to prevent Mavis from falling in love with him before the hotel’s guests learn a human is in the castle. The film is rated PG.

Attendees should bring their own blankets or chairs for use, drinks and snacks will be served.
