The Library is Open, Come On In

The Malden Public Library is open in-person, curbside, and online!  All the remaining public floors are open for browsing which includes: Main Reading Room, Children’s Room, Teen Room, World Language & ESL Collection, Reference and Information Services, 2nd floor “Quiet” Study Room, Converse Local History Room (by appointment only)

No appointments are necessary to use the library and library users will have access to most library services.

Still closed:  Maccario large public meeting room and our first floor small study rooms

Throughout the summer, programs for all ages will be available outdoors, and the Summer Reading Program will kick off on July 1.

Curbside Delivery & First Floor Browsing

For those that still require special services, we will continue to have expanded browsing on the first floor – including a children’s and teen collection.  Curbside delivery will continue to be available by appointment, please call the Library to request a curbside pickup.

Computer Use

Computers are available for 1 hour due to demand. Two 20-minute computers are available for checking email and printing.  Children’s room computers re not available at this time.  Remote or curbside printing will no longer be available, but printing will be available in-person at the library.

Children’s Room

We request that families not linger for long amounts of time in the room and that young children are accompanied by an adult and that we reserve the right to limit the number of families in the room should it become too crowded for peace of mind.  Large groups wishing to visit the children’s space will be limited.  Any camp, or other organization that wants to bring a group of children to visit the library must contact the library and speak with the children’s staff in advance.

Mask Policy

While social distance restrictions have been lifted, it is important that the library is a safe space for everyone. Young children and their families are daily visitors at our library. Because most children are not yet eligible to be vaccinated, we SUGGEST that ALL patrons continue to wear masks when inside the library regardless of your vaccination status.  For unvaccinated people, the CDC still recommends masks in any indoor setting and in group settings where social distancing is not possible.
