The “Live on the Lawn” Summer Concert Series on Wednesday, August 23, at 7:00 pm with a night of music featuring the band One and All.  One and All is a youthful and exciting band of musicians of coming together to create a wonderful evening of world music.

The Malden Public Library’s “Live on the Lawn” Summer Concert Series kicks off on Wednesday, July 26, at 7:00 pm featuring the band Endless Summer.

Boston’s own summertime band, Endless Summer, led by guitarist Ken Freeman, plays warm weather favorites and fun dance music heard at beach resorts throughout New England.  Focusing on the repertoire from artists such as The Beach Boys, Bob Marley, Van Morrison, The Beatles, The Eagles, Otis Redding, Tom Petty, Neil Young and Jimmy Buffet, Endless Summer will help you feel the warmth of the sun and get your feet moving in the grass.

Endless Summer has opened up a show featuring the legendary Beach Boys at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion and hosted an open-air concert at the Rose Kennedy Park to celebrate Brain Wilson’s birthday. The group has also performed at great summer venues including the Regatta Place, Museum of Science Pavillion, Thompson Island, Fenway Park, Fan Pier, TD Banknorth Garden, Odyssey Cruises, Vineyard Vines Boston and the Seaport Hotel.

The Summer Series continues on Aug. 2: Slow Boat Home; August 16: Outdoor Movie Night; and August 23: One and All Band.

Join us for the “Art of Vegetable Carving,” on March 28 at 7:00 p.m.  No registration required.  Adults only.  This is a demonstration and there will be no hands-on work.   Cosponsored with the Turkish Cultural Center of Boston.

On Thursday, January 19th at 6:30 p.m., join us at the Malden Public Library for Open Studio, an artist demonstration featuring Malden artist John Webster.  Mr. Webster will discuss and demonstrate the technique of encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. The liquid or paste is then applied to a surface—usually prepared wood, though canvas and other materials are often used.

John A. Webster, a Malden artist, is a 1980 graduate of Boston State College – now known as UMass Boston.  His art mentors include Robert DiGiovanni and Eva Cincotta.  John is a former member of the Rockport Art Association, Malden Guild of Artists and past Chairman of the Malden Cultural Council.

Mr. Webster’s work, including photographs and paintings, has been shown throughout New England and has won countless awards.  His artwork has been displayed at the Massachusetts State House, Stoneham Art Gallery, Rockport Art Association Contributing Member’s Exhibit, Malden Guild of Artists Exhibits, Saugus Rotary Exhibit, the Charlestown Preservation Society, The Malden Public Library and many other venues.  He is the recipient of The American Legion Citation of Appreciation Award (2000), George Washington Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge Community Award (2000) and the Malden Elks Citizen of the Year award (2007).

Mr. Webster is well known for his exhibit, “The Other Side of the Wall”, photographs reflecting his time in Vietnam, where he served in the Third Security Police Squadron of the United States Air Force from 1967-1968.  Mr. Webster’s current work features photographs of historic sites of Boston and a selection of his abstract paintings.  He currently is in retirement and is dedicating his time to art and photography.

The members of the Historical Society, the Victorian Society of Malden and the Friends of the Library invite you to a free afternoon concert to celebrate the season on Sunday, December 4, at 2:30 p.m.  Join us for some wonderful entertainment and after the concert, enjoy some light refreshments with the members. This year’s concert will feature a program by the Emmanuel Baptist Church Choir. The event will take place in the Maccario Room of the Malden Public Library.

The Malden Public Library’s “Live on the Lawn” Summer Concert Series continues on Wednesday, July 27, at 7:00 pm featuring Horizon & the Horns.  

Horizon and the Horns, featuring Malden’s own Ray Novack, are an entertaining and energetic cover band that plays top hits of the 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s and today, from the Blues Brothers to Lady Gaga. The band has been entertaining people of the greater Boston area since the 70s.  Horizon and the Horns are known to get people off their feet and dancing.
