Let's Talk About A Poem with Lloyd Schwartz

Our monthly online poetry discussion group is led by Somerville's Poet Laureate Lloyd Schwartz. This month we will be discussing the first 18 lines of the General Prologue to Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. It's written in Middle English, which is not quite modern English yet. Lloyd has supplied a literal translation of the whole passage and translations of the words that modern readers might not recognize. PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIER START TIME. Usually this program meets at 11am but will be meeting today at 10am.Registration is required and the link to join is sent out the day before the event.This program is made possible by the Malden Public Library, the Somerville Arts Council, and the Academy of American Poets and funds from the Andrew W. Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are invited to read, play and game with their friends in a weekly program at the library in the Program Room. Learn about Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder and tons of other small tabletop pen and paper games while enjoying light refreshments and friends. No sign up is required but space and snacks are limited.

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th Grade are invited to the MPL to learn about the fun collectible card game called Magic The Gathering. The game’s been around for over 30 years and has seen many iterations. Come play with beginner decks and learn from peers on how to play the game. Join us on Thursday, January 23rd from 3:00-4:30 PM.
