Origami Night for Adults – Nov. 6th

Adults 18+ are invited to join us for another in our instructional series of the art and craft of Origami. On November 6th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the Maccario Room we will have instructors present to help you fold, crease and bend your way into making unique art.

YA Movie Aftenoon – Thur. Oct 25th

Join us in the Maccario Room for another installment of the YA Movie Afternoons. We will have popcorn, snacks and drinks to enjoy alongside a new and popular movie. This Thursday, October 25th from 3:00 – 5:00 in the Maccario Room.

This movie is another blockbuster entry from Marvel’s cinematic universe, based on the superheroes “Ant-Man” and “The Wasp” and a sequel to the titular character’s 2015 film.

Board Game Night for Adults, Wednesday, Oct. 10th

Grab your dice, cards and meeples because its time for another Board Game Night for Adults hosted at the Malden Public Library. Join us Wednesday,  October 10th from 6:30 – 8:30 PM as we play games like Settlers of Catan, Pandemic, Dominion and more in the Library’s game collection.
 
If you’d like to bring your own games as well, feel free, though keep in mind that you only have two hours. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Meeting

Young Adults in the 6th-12th Grade are invited to take part in the first quarterly meeting of the Malden Public Library’s ‘Teen Advisory Group’ or TAG board.

The TAG will advise our Information Librarian in charge of the Young Adult department on what books to buy, what programs to run, and how to make the library more fun for teens. Our meeting will be in the Program Room of the library from 4:00-5:00 PM on Thursday, September 20th.

Members of the TAG board will get free books, and we will have snacks and drinks for our meetings. In addition to doing it for fun it looks great on college applications and resumes. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail librarian Patrick Brennan at pbrennan@maldenpubliclibrary.org.

YA Anime Afternoon Party

Manga and Anime fans in the 5th through 12th grade join us in the Maccario Room on Friday, July 27th to watch a movie based on one of the best-selling and longest running Manga’s in the world, “One Piece”

We will have snack, drinks, some party favors and will watch one of the latest films from the anime series based on “One Piece”. Raise the jolly roger and set sail for adventure as Luffy’s crew goes to a casino in the middle of the ocean and encounters greed and misfortune among his fellow pirate crew.

 

Harry Potter Birthday Celebration

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are invited to enjoy a magical birthday party for the Boy Who Lived at the Malden Public Library on July 31st from 3:00 – 4:30 PM.

We will have butter beer, bertie botts beans, harry potter games, crafts and more. Come ready to celebrate and relax with friends in fellow houses, whether they sort into Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. No registration required, but snacks and crafts supplies are limited.

YA Karaoke Party

Young Adults in the 5th through 12th grade are invited to sing their hearts out at our first ever Karaoke competition. Whether you like to belt out pop classics, classic rap or rock ballads you can enjoy yourself at our Karaoke party.

On Tuesday July 17th join us as we take the stage in the Maccario room to enjoy snacks, beverages and our new Karaoke machine. We will be singing from 3:00 – 4:30 PM

One random singer will be selected to win a prize, and the top singer as determined by the judges will earn a $20 Gift Card.

Youth Tie-Dye Craft

Youth in the 3rd through 12th grade can join us Friday, July 13th from 3:00 – 4:30 PM to create your own Tie-Dye t-shirt. We will be taking to the front lawn in good weather to rubber-band, dye and take home your own creations.

No sign-up required but space and supplies are limited, so make sure to arrive on time. Feel free to bring your own 100% Cotton shirt as well, but it is not required.
