Drop-in Stitch

Attention knitters, crocheters, and yarn lovers. Bring a portable craft project and share your talents or problems with others.

The Drop-in Stitch will be held the 4th Thursday of each month (February 25/March 24/April 28/May 26) from 6:30-8 pm at the Library. No sign-up required.

YMCA LEGO Robotics Club, for 4th – 6th Graders

Young Adults in the 4th through 6th grade can sign-up starting today for the Library’s LEGO Robotics Club. The program starts Thursday, April 14th and runs for 6 straight weeks, and will be from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Program Room of the Malden Public Library.

This 6-week program is being taught by the Malden YMCA Youth Leaders of the Robotics Program. It is a cumulative course that will teach the basics of engineering, crafting, programming and problem-solving with LEGO Mindstorm Robotic kits. This program will build up to a LEGO robotics competition, and so it is required that participates should be willing to attend all 6 sessions.

 

There is no cost to participate in the program. If you have any questions, or would like to sign-up, please contact the library at 1-781-324-0218 and secure your spot today.

Malden Reads Kick-off Celebration

Malden Reads will kick-off it’s 2016 community reads event on Friday, February 19th at 6:30 pm at the Malden Public Library.

Enjoy refreshments, cultural exhibits, and community conversation. Learn more about this year’s book selections, take a guided tour of the Library’s historic building, and participate in a special presentation in the Ryder Gallery.

And please enjoy MATV’s PSA for the 2016 selection The Martian.

 

Young Adult Craft: Duct Tape – Feb. 17th

urlYoung Adults in the 5th through 12th grade join us on Wednesday, February 17th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Program Room for a return to the art and craft of Duct Tape. We will be making wallets, clutch purses, rings, and bracelets – all out of the stickiest tape ever made. Choose from the library’s supplies of dozens of diferent colors and styles of Duct Tape, and create whatever you would like.

No sign-up is required but space is limited on a first come first serve basis.

New Young Adult Books

Stop by the Young Adult section of the library and look for the New Books display. If you can’t find any of these titles below feel free to peruse our other new fiction, non-fiction, graphic novel and manga displays. If you have a new book that you would like to suggest that the Library should purchase, talk to the librarian at either the YA or the Information Desk.

Young Adult Converse LEGO Club – Thurs. March 3rd @3:00-5:00

The Converse LEGO Club for Young Adults in the 4th through 12th grade is returning this Thursday, March 3rd from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the Program room. We have challenge builds from advanced sets and Pixel Art, but you can also just come and free-build anything you can imagine with the Library’s expanding LEGO collection.
