Congratulations to Team Hill/Iovino for winning 1st place at the library’s Triple Threat Trivia fundraiser! Many thanks to the 24 teams that competed and all of the business sponsors for making Trivia 2009 an exciting and successful evening!
Six teams have already earned 2 bonus points for the 2010 game! Earn 2 bonus points for your team by registering for Trivia 2010 by February 6, 2009. This Saturday, children of all ages are invited to learn about the Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do, “Way of the China Hand.” Grandmaster Byrne, president of the American Tang Soo Do Association, and his students demonstrate different forms and perform board-breaking stunts.
The Children’s Room Saturday Storytime has been cancelled for 1/24/09.
Saturday Storytime will resume on 1/31/09 at 10:30am. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Six weeks of FREE preschool storytimes (for ages 3 and up) begin January 21/22 and run through February 25/26. Malden residents may register now by phone or in person in the Children’s Room. Choose either the Wednesday or the Thursday session. Each storytime takes place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and includes picture books, songs, rhymes, and a simple craft. The third Reading Roots enrichment program for Malden kindergartners takes place this Saturday, January 10, at 3:00 p.m. Jape Payette will offer his 90-minute “Acting for YoungSTARS” workshop. Kindergartners will be able to exercise their imaginations, pretend and communicate ideas, improvise scenes, and engage in fun theater games.
Reading Roots is generously funded by the Anna Yaghjian Fund. The goal of this enrichment program is to nurture in kindergartners a love of books, reading, learning and libraries.
