To celebrate the Halloween season and using a variety of puppetry styles, Caravan Puppets will perform tales of mystery from classic literature: “The Boy Who Drew Cats,” “The Princess and the Monsters” and more. This not-too-scary puppet show is FREE and recommended for ages 3-10. Sponsored by Foxxe Editorial Services.

The Friends of the Malden Public Library are holding their annual book and bake sale Saturday, October 27, from 10 am to 4 pm. Hardcovers ($1.00) and paperbacks (50 cents) are available in abundance, as are children’s books (25 cents apiece, or 5 for a dollar). Nonfiction is sorted by subject and fiction is alphabetized by author. Preview night, for Friends members only, takes place Friday, October 26, from 6 pm to 9 pm. New memberships and renewals ($10) will be taken on the preview night. All proceeds benefit the library.

The library will be closed on Monday, October 8, 2007 in observance of Columbus Day.
